MGS001 I Am Motivated!
Students will understand the different traits of motivation and how they can sustain it in their pursuit of not just academic excellence, but for a sense of purpose and fulfillment in life. The course will include interesting, and interactive student-based activities, testimonials and videos of extraordinary people, and inspiring stories to draw out the various traits of self-motivation.

MGS002 SMART Goals, Effective Time Management & Organizational Skills
Students will partake in activities and watch videos that will simulate different situations
where time management and organization is needed. Through experiential learning, students will learn how to set S.M.A.R.T. goals, keep the big picture in mind, be mindful of the biggest time wasters and how to prioritize by focusing on what is urgent and important.

MGS003 Note Taking, Study Strategies, Practical Exam Tips & Enhancing Memory Skills
Students will understand the various study strategies needed for daily studies and also for examination preparation as well as applying various memory techniques to help them better recall and synthesize learnt material.

MGS004 Effective Reading & Research Strategies
Students will learn various primary and secondary research strategies in order to gather data and evidences to build up their argument/case. They will also learn to discriminate between valid, reliable data vs. anecdotal evidences so that they become more discerning when making value judgments.

 

MGS005 Problem-Solving
This course aims to build confidence in students when they are faced with everyday problems, whether in school or outside school. Students will learn the steps for more effective and rational decision making. They will be involved in group discussions and presentations, and have practical hands-on experience to take a problem and solve it systematically during the course. Students will also learn tools such as 5W&1H, SWOT analysis, Fishbone and PEST to enable them to analyze problems in class, with their families and their friends

MGS006 Critical and Analytical Thinking
Critical and analytical thinking is an important skill as students’ progress in their course of study and life. In this experiential course, participants will engage in group observations, discussions and presentations towards lines of reasoning to arrive at logical conclusions of opinions. In this course, participants will understand the importance of reasoning and questioning, and organization of thought process. They will become more aware of the consequences of actions and through personal reflections, thereby able to reach a higher level of awareness in their speeches and actions.

MGS007 Creative and Innovation Thinking
Creativity thinking skills are about attitude and the confidence to be open to new and unconventional ideas. In this fun-filled experiential course, participants will be involved in creative activities to generate new ideas to solve old problems. They will also learn about inspirational real-life examples of how creativity and innovative thinking have enabled people and companies to recreate history. Stories that will be shared include the Kodak camera being invented by a bank clerk and the first ballpoint pen being invented by a journalist.

MGS008 Self Evaluation and Profiling (DISC)
This module is based on the DISC profiling and modelling tool. Students will learn the following:

  • Identify individuals’ strengths and weaknesses through DISC Profiling
  • Grow from “comfort zones” into “growth (groan) zones”
  • Openness and adaptability help reduce conflicts and stress as well as enhance communication
  • Everyone is gifted and unique. Identifying individuals DISC to enable building up strength in area of career planning
  • Motivation comes from within. Teamwork and cohesion drives a team and individual towards success. By understanding strengths of others and individual, the spirit of togetherness enable excellence result eliminating negative thinking
