Personal Effectiveness

PE001 Character Building
Through a series of modules, participants would identify and develop the foundations of their character, following guiding principles of integrity, responsibility, self-motivation, empathy, courage, perseverance, self-control, gratitude. The lessons consist of student-based activities that will enhance their understanding and allow them to embrace the keys to being highly effective people.

PE002 Goal Setting
Through activities and hands-on practices, the participants will set personal S.M.A.R.T. goals, learn tools such as the "bell-S", and commit to good habits that will guide them to their goals in life; whether it is achieving good grades, being successful in their chosen career or simply to be a better person. Ultimately, the course aims to inspire students to make goal-setting a life-long practice.

PE003 Emotional Intelligence
(focus on Intra-personal relationships)
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the unique repertoire of emotional skills that a person uses to navigate the everyday challenges of life. It is the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and our relationships (Daniel Goleman, 1995). Participants will learn how to understand their emotions and improve their relationship with themselves, and how to better manage their thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

PE004 Self Motivation
“Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly.” This quote by Stephen R. Covey distinctly reminds us of the immense power of self motivation. Participants of this course will discover the importance of self motivation and learn how to nurture motivating thoughts, neutralize negative ones, and maintain their focus on their goal.

PE005 Time Management
Time management is about getting more value out of time and using it to improve the quality of life. Areas that will be covered include: time-management and self-management techniques, the four quadrants of time management (understanding what is urgent and important and what is not) planning a schedule effectively and adhering to it, tips to deal with procrastination.

 

PE006 Anger Management
Anger increases stress, and can be physically and psychologically damaging. It can destroy friendships, relationships, careers, and a person’s life. This course teaches skills to reduce, limit, channel, and control one’s anger into more constructive and less harmful areas.

 

PE007 Jump Start!
(Transition between Primary, Secondary & Tertiary levels)
As students transit between levels, many face new challenges, higher expectations and stumbling blocks that could potentially hinder their learning and assimilation into the new school environment. This course’s purpose is to help students successfully adjust through this transition so that students can enjoy and excel in their studies and other activities during their school years.

PE008 Handyman
There has been talk about the generation of youths who may be overly-dependant on domestic helpers and technology to do basic work for them. This course aims equip students by giving participants practical technical skills that are essential in living independently, such as basic cooking skills, plumbing, ironing/sewing, and maintaining electrical appliances.
