Advanced Diploma in Film Production
Kelvin graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Film Production (Directing) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic after receiving the Media Education Scheme Award from the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore in 2004. His 2005 short film “More Than Words”, a tribute to the late Asian songstress Teresa Teng, has been officially invited to be screened and compete at international film festivals around the world including Italy, Germany, Canada, United Kingdom, Romania and Africa. In 2006, Kelvin was awarded the Script Development Grant by the Singapore Film Commission to develop “More Than Words” into a feature film screenplay. Kelvin has recently completed “The Gang”, a prelude to the feature film version of “More Than Words”. “The Gang” is currently the most expensive short film ever made in Singapore and will be competing in various international film festivals for several awards in 2010. Kelvin has been actively involved in various film productions, particularly in the areas of screenwriting, directing and producing while developing “More Than Words” into a feature film, which will go into production in 2010. In addition, Kelvin also serves as Acting Coach, Film/Video Instructor and Creative Consultant to various institutions and companies, and is currently an Associate Artist of The Substation. His experience as a former teacher and Head of Department (HOD) with the Ministry of Education has shaped his desire to be a lifelong educator, paving the way for him to become one of the most prolific and sought-after trainers at Mastereign. Kelvin’s vision as Programme Director for Mastereign Film Academy is to serve as a bridge between the film/media industry and schools with relevant and practical knowledge, inspiring new blood to enter the industry and contribute to its growth.
