Painting Series

P001 Muralize It! (NAC-AEP)
A mural is a forefront tool of an artist’s means of expression. Through this programme, students will explore the world of an expressionist. From futuristic to renaissance, graphic to gothic, students will use murals to express their feelings, moods and character.

 

P002 Batik Painting (NAC-AEP)
An introduction to an ancient Indonesian art and craft tradition, students will learn about the historical background of Batik art as well as its local pioneering batik artists. Using appropriate materials and tools, students will be engaged in design and practical processes such as design concepts, understanding elements and principles of design, exploring and using various batik art and painting techniques, and design realisation.

P003 Chinese Brush Painting
An art with a long and rich history, students will learn the proper Chinese brush strokes, how to create shades by applying water and using black and colour pigments. They will also learn to apply the two different styles of Chinese painting — elaborate and spontaneous. At the end of the programme, students will create a painting using the techniques taught.

 

P004 Oil Pastels
Students will be taught a basic understanding of primary and secondary colours with the use of gradual colour tones. They will learn how to turn 2-dimensional forms and shapes into 3-dimension ones. They will be taught the proper ways of using oil pastel to form lines and dots, the effect that the directions of strokes have on art pieces, and the rubbing method used in colouring. Students will also learn techniques such as layering, under painting and scraping down. In their final projects, students will get to apply the art and design principles that they have acquired in this programme.

P005 Stained Glass
Stained glass has been a popular craft for centuries. This programme teaches students a new approach to this venerable and well regarded art. They will explore to various techniques such as painting, sponging, stencilling, marbling and etching on a single pane of glass or recycled glassware using enamel and translucent paint.

 

P006 Acrylic Painting
Acrylics are easy to use and have a wide range of applications. Students will learn these applications such as colour theory, choosing and mixing colours, applying brush and palette knife techniques, exploring and creating numerous surface effects. Since acrylic is a versatile medium, students are encouraged to develop ideas for a wide range of art applications using recycled materials as well.

P007 Relief Wall Painting
Relief painting or sculpto-painting is a combination of sculpture and painting, with roots tracing back to ancient Egypt. Students will learn 3 basic relief methods and also experience and transition between flat and 3-dimensional artwork. Other application levels include colour, texture, shape, form, pattern and balance.

 

P008 Oil Painting
There are as many approaches and techniques for oil painting as there are practitioners. One of the great advantages of oil paint is that one is able to keep on removing paint and repainting over an area until it looks right. This programme exposes students to materials, equipment, colour theory, ways of mixing colours, brush techniques, making changes and modifications, special effects, coping with composition and working on location.

P009 Grafitti Art
Graffiti has existed since ancient times and can be anything from simple scratch marks
to elaborate wall paintings. Today, spray paint and markers have become the most commonly used materials. This programme engages students with techniques using spray paint. They will learn typographic and pictographic design, implementing principles and elements of art to their art piece.

P010 Watercolour
Watercolour is a method in which paints are made of water-soluble pigments. The traditional and most common support for watercolour paintings is paper; other supports include papyrus, plastics, fabric, wood, canvas, etc. In this programme, students will gain a deeper insight into watercolour painting, exploring various drawing and painting techniques.

P011 Expressions in Chalk
Chalk or pastels is an art medium in the form of coloured sticks, consisting of pure powdered pigment and a binder. This programme allows students to create large art pieces; learning the techniques of chalk art such as outlining, smudging, blending, toning, and adding fine creative accents.
