Osman Asari
Assistant Programme Manager
Osman’s mother named him after Othman Wok, a popular teacher/writer, and he has lived up to his namesake. As a playful young boy who always managed to get into mischief, Osman started his artistic career when he was grounded after plucking fruit from a neighbour’s garden, and begin drawing and sketching.
And as they say, the rest is history. Osman has taken part in several contemporary art exhibitions since age 17, and has traveled extensively to hone his skills and understanding of various ethnic and cultural art forms. A graduate of Lasalle College of the Arts, Osman ventured into the commercial art industry, and has developed a flair for his work and passion in the arts. In Brunei he studied Product and Fashion Sportswear Design; in Malaysia, Osman studied and worked as an Illustrator and Interior/Exterior Designer; and in Indonesia, he got involved in Teak Furniture Design and Reproduction/Interior Designing.
With an eye for aesthetics, Osman has set up his own handycraft workshop while being involved in the local Arts Education scene. He has taught drawing, painting and sculpture in traditional and cultural arts, always looking to revive interest in slowly fading art forms. His passion and knowledge in the realm of visual arts is a tremendous asset that he brings to the Mastereign Visual Arts department.
